Rayshel is a Special effects (SFX) makeup artist for TV & film, specializing in horror and gore. After a 15-year career as a Paramedic, serving the city of Calgary & surrounding areas, she transitioned her full time career in Emergency services into the world of Special FX makeup, bringing a deep understanding of real-world trauma to her craft.
She trained at the Vancouver FX school and the Artists within Academy in Calgary earning certification in Advanced makeup, character design & creation, sculpting techniques, foam latex & silicone prosthetics, silicone prop FX, blood rigging & life casting, latex mask making, as well as digital sculpting and 3D printing. Her ability to create disturbingly realistic injuries, gruesome prosthetics, and spine-chilling creature effects makes her a new sought-after artist in the industry.
Rayshel has worked on multiple independent films within Alberta and participated in some small productions in Vancouver BC, where she had the opportunity to collaborate with her mentor and industry FX artist leader, Dallas Harvey. These experiences have allowed her to refine her skills alongside some of the best in the field.
Based in Calgary, Alberta, Rayshel is committed to pushing boundaries of practical effects in film and television. Whether designing terrifying monsters, engineering complex blood rigs, or crafting cinematic-quality gore, she brings a new level of precision and creativity to every project.
